Simon Murray (born March 15, 1992 in Dundee ) is a Scottish football player who plays for Bidvest Wits .

Career

Simon Murray was born in the Scottish city of Dundee, the son of former soccer player Gary Murray . He began his career in the youth of Dundee Celtic and Dundee United , before moving to Montrose FC about 60 kilometers north of his hometown. In May 2011 he completed a game for the club in the third division against FC Queen's Park . He then played for the lower-class clubs FC Downfield, FC Tayport and Dundee Violet. In May 2014 Murray signed a contract with fourth division FC Arbroath . In the 2014/15 season he scored 14 goals in 21 games, after which he was signed by Dundee United in January 2015 for a transfer fee of £ 50,000. For the remainder of the season he was awarded to Arbroath. After his return to Dundee, he came in the first division season 2015/16 which ended with relegation in 22 games on seven goals. In the second division he scored 10 goals in 32 league games as a regular. The promotion was missed, but the club won the Challenge Cup in the final against FC St. Mirren .
