Pedro Caixinha

Pedro Caixinha (born November 15, 1970 in Beja ) is a Portuguese football coach and former player on the position of goalkeeper .

Coaching career

After a relatively meaningless career as a soccer goalkeeper in various unterklassigen clubs in his native Portugal Caixinha climbed into coaching, where he served as head coach in the 2010/11 season at Vitória Guimarães and in the following season 2011/12 with União Leiria and Nacional Funchal was responsible .

For the 2013 Clausura he was hired as coach of Santos Laguna and immediately reached the finals of the CONCACAF Champions League 2012/13 with the Guerreros . There the team trained by Caixinha lost to their Mexican league rivals CF Monterrey with an overall result of 2: 4. After the first leg at home at Estadio TSM Corona ended 0-0, Santos Laguna managed a 2-0 lead in the second leg, which was lost within the last half hour.

The first successes in Caixinha's coaching career were not long in coming. In the Apertura 2014 he won the Copa México with the Guerreros and in the Clausura 2015 the Mexican football championship .

In March 2017 he took over the Glasgow Rangers team from Scotland. He was released in October.
