Darren O'Dea (born February 4, 1987 in Dublin ) is an Irish football player .

Player career

The trained left and center defender made his debut in the first team of Celtic FC in September 2006 in the league cup match against FC St. Mirren . His league debut followed two months later in the game against Dunfermline Athletic , four days after his first appearance in the Champions League against FC Copenhagen when he came on for the injured Stephen McManus . He scored his first goal for Celtic on December 26, 2006 against Dundee United .

On August 17, 2010 O'Dea was awarded to the English second division club Ipswich Town trained by his compatriot Roy Keane . In the 2011/12 season he played on loan at Leeds United . For the 2012/13 season he moved to Toronto FC in the American Major League Soccer . He finally came to FC Dundee in 2016 via Metalurh Donetsk , FC Blackpool and Mumbai City FC .

National team

O'Dea made his international debut for the Irish national football team on September 8, 2009 in a 1-0 win in a friendly against South Africa . On October 16, 2012, he scored the 4-1 final score for his team in the qualifying game for the 2014 World Cup in Faroe Islands .
