Laura Nicorescu

Laura Nicorescu (* 1983 or 1985 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Laura Nicorescu completed her studies at the University of Bucharest in 2005 and received her Magisterium at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in 2008 . In 2005 she was awarded a sponsorship prize during her engagement at the International Rheinsberg Opera Festival and a year later she made her debut in Salzburg in a Magic Flute production by Grace Bumbry in the role of Pamina. In 2007 she sang the leading roles in the world premieres of Reinhard Febel's opera Das Gespensterhaus and Fausto Tuscano's L'ultimo Tango di Madame Ivonne . At the end of 2007 she could be heard as Taumännchen in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel , directed by Philipp Harnoncourt in Rosenheim . In 2008 she sang the teacher in Die feuerrote Friederike ( Elisabeth Naske ) and in June 2008 Pamina in the Magic Flute under the direction of Eike Gramss .

From 2008 to 2009 she was engaged in the young ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera . There she sang u. a. First angel ( Palestrina ); Dewy men ( Hansel and Gretel ); Tow carrier ( Elektra ); Jano ( Jenufa ), milliner ( Der Rosenkavalier ); Ismene ( Medea in Corinto ) and Clorinda ( La Cenerentola ). In the 2009/10 season she was cast in the new production of L'elisir d'amore as the cover for the role of Adina and in the world premiere The Tragedy of the Devil by Péter Eötvös as a substitute for Eva.

In the 2010/11 season Nicorescu performed in Antwerp and Gent as Konstanze ( The Abduction from the Seraglio ). In 2012 she was seen there as Frasquita in Carmen . In the 2012/13 season Nicorescu sang Despina in Così fan tutte and Sophie in Werther at the Landestheater Salzburg . From the 2013/14 season she was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Salzburg State Theater . For the season opening 2014/15 she sang the role of Pamina in Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte .

International engagements followed with a focus on the Mozart repertoire. She sang roles like Konstanze, Pamina ( Die Zauberflöte ), Servilia ( La clemenza di Tito ), Zerlina ( Don Giovanni ; 2016 at the Opera Royal de Versailles ) and also Susanna ( Le nozze di Figaro ). In December 2014 she appeared again at the Flemish Opera in Antwerp as Despina.

She also appears internationally as a concert singer and worked a. a. with the conductors Fabio Luisi , Kirill Petrenko , Ivor Bolton , Leo Hussain , Asher Fisch and Kent Nagano . As a song interpreter, she has performed recitals in the Berlin Philharmonic , the Musikverein Wien , the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and in the St James Church Piccadilly in London.

She is the winner of numerous international competitions.
