Martin Vunk (born August 21, 1984 in Tartu ) is an Estonian football player who has been under contract with Persija Jakarta in the Indonesia Super League since 2014 . Vunk has been a member of the Estonian national football team since 2008 .

Career

In the club

Martin Vunk came to JK Pärnu Tervis via FC Lelle and FC Kuressaare in 2001 , from where he moved to the Estonian record champions FC Flora Tallinn in 2002 . There he only had a short guest appearance, combined with few opportunities in the league, when the team won the Meistriliiga in 2002 and the Estonian Supercup. Vunk then moved to FC Valga in 2003 , where he was able to establish himself in the regular formation for the first time in his career. At Valga he spent the seasons of the Meistriliiga 2003 and 2004 and completed 48 games for the club, in which he was able to mark five goals. Due to his good performance in the two years, his former club FC Flora Tallinn wanted to bring him back. In January 2005 Vunks returned to FC Flora. There he made the leap into the starting eleven and was voted the best player of the Meistriliiga season at that time in 2008. In November 2009 he should be awarded for two years to the Swedish second division team Syrianska FC . However, he was not happy there and asked in December 2010 for a termination of the loan agreement in order to be able to switch to another club instead. This was the FC Flora Tallinn instead and so Vunk moved on January 5, 2011 to the Cypriot club Nea Salamis Famagusta . With the newcomer to the league, Vunk came to seventh place in the table at the end of the 2011/12 season and played 27 games, scoring two goals. In July 2012 Vunk signed a contract with Panachaiki from the second highest Greek division . After half a year in Greece without any working hours, he moved to JK Kalev Sillamäe in 2013 .

National team

On February 27, 2008, he made his A international debut for Estonia in a friendly against Poland , when he came on as a substitute in the 67th minute. Since then he has been an integral part of the Estonian national team and was the only player in 2008 who did not miss a single one of the fourteen international matches. He had to wait for his first international goal until September 6, 2011, when the 4-1 win over Northern Ireland in the European Championship qualification was the time. At the end of the European Championship qualification you reached the playoff games, in which Estonia was defeated by Ireland and lost 5-1 on both legs.
