Lukáš Hrádecký (born November 24, 1989 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia , now Slovakia ) is a Finnish football goalkeeper of Slovak origin. The Finnish international has been under contract with German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen since the 2018/19 season .

Hrádecký began playing football in Turku in 1996 at the age of seven with the local Turun Palloseura in the position of the striker ; later he changed positions and played as a goalkeeper. There he began his professional career in 2006, but was not used in any league match of the professional team and also spent a season with lower-class city rivals Åbo IFK , where he played eleven league appearances.

In the winter break of the 2008/09 season he moved to the Danish first division club Esbjerg fB . In the second half of the season he was not used in any game. On July 26, 2009 (2nd matchday) he made his debut for Esbjerg fB in the 3-1 win against Brøndby IF with his substitution in the sixth minute of stoppage time for the injured Lars Winde . During this season he remained a substitute goalkeeper and came to five missions. In the following season Hrádecký played 13 point and two cup games . At the end of the season he was relegated with Esbjerg fB from the super league. In the second division season 2011/12 he advanced to the goalkeeper and completed 25 point games; he succeeded with the team in this season, the direct rise. Then Hrádecký played all 33 league games in the Danish House of Lords in the 2012/13 season .

He moved to league rivals Brøndby IF for the 2013/14 season . He made his debut on July 21, 2013 in a 1-1 draw on the first day of the game against FC Vestsjælland . Hrádecký was used in all 33 league games and qualified with Brøndby IF at the end of the season as fourth for qualifying for the UEFA Europa League .

For the 2015/16 season , Hrádecký moved to the German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt , with whom he signed a contract valid until June 30, 2018. He made his Bundesliga debut for Eintracht Frankfurt on August 16, 2015 in a 2-1 defeat in the away game against VfL Wolfsburg . He played all 34 Bundesliga matches and both relegation games. He was also a regular goalkeeper in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons . In May 2018, Hrádecký won the DFB Cup with Eintracht after beating FC Bayern Munich 3-1 in the final .

For the 2018/19 season, Hrádecký made a free transfer to league rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen , with whom he signed a contract until 2023.

National team

Hrádecký made his debut for the senior national team on May 21, 2010 when he came on as a substitute for Jukka Lehtovaara in the test international against Estonia's selection in the second half . Previously, he was used for all junior national teams.

Personal

Hrádecký was born in November 1989 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia, as the son of two engineers. The family emigrated to Finland when his father moved to a Finnish volleyball club and Lukáš was one year old; the family settled in Turku .

In addition to Finnish and Slovak , Hrádecký also speaks Danish and German .

His younger brother Tomáš (* 1992) is also a soccer player and is active in the Czech Republic , while his youngest brother Matej (* 1995), like Lukáš, plays in the Finnish national team .

Hrádecký was named Footballer of the Year in Finland by the Finnish Football Association in 2016, 2017 and 2018 . He also received this award from the Finnish sports journalists in 2016 and 2017.
