Charles Mariano Aránguiz Sandoval (born April 17, 1989 in Puente Alto ) is a Chilean football player . He has been playing for German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen since the 2015/16 season .
Club career
Beginnings and breakthrough in South America
Charles Aránguiz, whose mother is a soccer coach, played as a youth for the North Chilean club CD Cobreloa from Calama . At the age of 16 he was brought into the first team in the Primera División . In his first year and a half he had completed 46 league appearances before he was loaned out to league competitor CD Cobresal for six months . He then played for Cobreloa for another year and a half.
In the summer of 2009, the central midfielder switched to the Chilean record champions CSD Colo-Colo from the capital Santiago and won the 29th championship title in the club's history there with the team in the first Clausura . The following year he was involved in nine games in the runner-up, but the season was interrupted by an earthquake accident and Aránguiz moved in the second half of the year to Argentina for the local first division Quilmes AC .
After his return he joined the second top Chilean club, CF Universidad de Chile , where he won three championships in a row with both 2011 titles and the 2012 Apertura title. He was then voted Chilean Player of the Year by the Chilean sports press. In 2013 she won the national cup competition .
In early 2014 Aránguiz was loaned to SC Internacional Porto Alegre in Brazil. There he introduced himself with three goals and two assists in six games in the A series . Aránguiz was signed by Internacional Porto Alegre on August 16, 2014.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen
On August 13, 2015 Aránguiz signed a five-year contract with the German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen until June 30, 2020.
