Niklas Uwe Bernd Lomb (born July 28, 1993 in Cologne ) is a German soccer goalkeeper . He is under contract with Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen .

Career

Niklas Lomb began his career in 1999 at the age of six in the F-Jugend of SC West Cologne in the Neuehrenfeld district . There he was first used as a field player. However, shortly afterwards he became interested in the position of goalkeeper, so that he was occasionally in goal during team training. After some time, Lomb finally changed position and swapped his field player place with the previous goalkeeper.

From 2006 he trained twice a week in the youth team of the Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen . The club advised him to stay at SC West at the same time, in order to have greater opportunities for match practice. The change finally took place in 2008. From this point on he played in the club's own B and later in the A youth. From 2012 he was promoted to the men's division and was used in two seasons for the second team, for which he appeared 62 times until their dissolution in 2014. For the 2012/13 season he also moved up as the third goalkeeper behind Bernd Leno and Michael Rensing in the professional squad. He made his professional debut in the last group game in the Europa League on December 6, 2012 against Rosenborg Trondheim .

After the club had canceled their second team for the 2014/15 season, Lomb did not appear in the preliminary round as the fourth goalkeeper behind Bernd Leno , Dario Krešić and David Yelldell . Therefore, on January 8, 2015, he moved to the 3rd league for Halleschen FC on loan until the end of the season . In his first game for HFC against MSV Duisburg , he saw the red card after three minutes after an emergency brake against Steffen Bohl . After serving his suspension, he completed twelve more third division games for Halle.

For the 2015/16 season Lomb was awarded to the 3rd division again, this time to Preußen Münster . Lomb made his competitive debut for Münster on July 25, 2015 in the home game against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach , which ended 1: 1. In the summer of 2016 he returned to Leverkusen, where he did not play any competitive games in the following two years. For the 2018/19 season , Lomb was awarded to the second division club SV Sandhausen . Here he displaced the previous goalkeeper Marcel Schuhe already after the 2nd match day , but he was able to assert himself again as number 1 at the end of the first half of the season. Subsequently, Lomb was no longer used. At the beginning of May 2020, the keeper's contract in Leverkusen was extended for two more years.

Personal

Lomb was born in Cologne in July 1993 . After primary school, he attended a grammar school in Ehrenfeld and from 2006 commuted twice a week for training at Kurtekotten on the city limits of Leverkusen . He graduated from school with a high school graduation grade of 2.4. He is currently completing a distance learning course in Düsseldorf in the bachelor's degree in sports business management .
