Paulinho , real name Paulo Henrique Sampaio Filho (born July 15, 2000 in Rio de Janeiro ), is a Brazilian soccer player . He has been playing for German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen since the 2018/19 season .

Career

Paulinho joined the youth of CR Vasco da Gama in 2010 . He made his debut for the first team - and thus also his first game in professional football - at the age of 16 on July 13, 2017 in the league game at EC Vitória with a substitution.

On April 27, 2018, the German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen announced that Paulinho would be signed on July 15 of that year - his 18th birthday. He signed a contract that runs until mid-2023. He made his debut for the club on August 18, 2018 in the first round game of the DFB Cup at 1. CfR Pforzheim . In the 1-0 victory of his team, he came on for Julian Brandt in the 73rd minute . During the first half of the season Paulinho came to eleven more appearances, including eight as a substitute. In the Europa League , he scored his first competitive goal for Leverkusen on December 13, 2018 in the away game at AEK Larnaka .
