Eduardo Jesús Vargas Rojas (born November 20, 1989 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean football player . The striker is under contract with UANL Tigres and plays for the Chilean national team .
Career
societies
Vargas initially played in various clubs in the Chilean community of Renca when he was young . In 2006 he moved to the first division club CD Cobreloa . There, the then 16-year-old was initially used in the club's third-class second team, but was soon used in the first division. After he was promoted to the youth national team of his country at a young age, he was signed in 2010 by the 16-time Chilean champions Club Universidad de Chile . He had his breakthrough in his new club in 2011 when he scored 17 times in 36 league games and became the top scorer of the Copa Sudamericana .
He finally moved to Italy for SSC Napoli during the 2011/12 winter break . There he made his debut at Coppa Italia on January 12, 2012 . Even though the team won the cup at the end of the season, his first half of the year in Italy was mixed, as he was not a single starter in the league, and he did not score a competitive goal. The start of the 2012/13 season went well for him when he scored three goals on the first day of the Europa League against AIK Solna . Nevertheless, due to Walter Mazzarri's opinion about Vargas, he was unable to establish himself permanently, so that in January 2013 he was loaned out to Grêmio Porto Alegre in Brazil for a year . There he was supposed to collect match practice in the Copa Libertadores and in the Série A.
On January 23, 2014 Vargas was until the end of the season in the Spanish La Liga at the Valencia awarded. On February 1 of that year, he played for his new club for the first time in a game against FC Barcelona . A week later he scored his first goal.
For the new season he returned to Naples with the end of the loan deal, but was loaned to the Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League for one year from August 2014 . Vargas made his debut in a league game against Manchester United on September 14 and scored for the first time about a month later after being substituted on in a game against Liverpool .
In August 2015, Vargas left SSC Napoli for good and went to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga . He signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2019. On September 13, 2015, he scored his first Bundesliga goal when he equalized a few minutes after being substituted on in the 3-1 defeat in the home game against Werder Bremen . By the end of December 2016, Vargas had made 29 Bundesliga appearances in which he scored two goals.
After Vargas with the national team during the winter break of the Bundesliga season 2016/17 at the China Cup had participated, he returned in January not to Hoffenheim back, but moved to the end of the month in the Mexican Liga MX to Tigres UANL .
National team
In 2008 Vargas was supposed to take part with the Chilean U-20s in the South American Championship in Venezuela , which he missed due to an injury.
For the senior national team , he was 19 years old on November 4, 2009 against Paraguay for the first time. In September 2011, he scored both goals for Chile in a 3-2 defeat against the then world and European champions Spain .
He scored five goals in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup . After reaching the finals, he was appointed to the Chilean squad by national coach Jorge Sampaoli . After making his debut at a World Cup in the first group game, a 3-1 win against Australia , he scored 1-0 in the second game against Spain and was therefore partly responsible for the elimination of the world champions in the group stage. Vargas formed the Chilean strike duo in all four games with Alexis Sánchez until they were defeated by hosts Brazil in the last 16 . He scored one goal himself and set up two more directly.
At the Copa América Centenario 2016 , he scored four goals in the Chilean 7-0 quarter-final victory over Mexico .
Style of play
Vargas can be used variably in the offensive and can play as a winger or central tip. He is characterized by the danger of goals and speed. Furthermore, it is technically strong and robust.
