FC Vestsjælland was a sister club of Slagelse BK&IF . It was founded on July 1, 2008. Jeppe Tengbjerg was the first coach . From then on, he looked after the team in the 2nd division Øst , the third highest division in Denmark. Although Tengbjerg did a good job and led the team up, he was fired at the end of March 2009 and replaced by former Bundesliga professional Michael Schjønberg . This made it to the Viasat Sport Division in the remaining games . With Ove Pedersen , the club rose to the first division in the summer of 2013. He was followed by Michael Hansen in May 2014, followed by Michael Hemmingsen , who was also the last coach of the club's professional team until bankruptcy in winter 2015, in September 2015.

Only half a year after reaching the Danish Cup final, FC Vestsjælland filed for bankruptcy in 2015. This resulted in a deduction of six points. Even if a restructuring plan had been successful, the point deduction would have been legal. In the 2015/16 winter break, Vestsjaelland was finally excluded from playing and the club was dissolved.
