Ritvars Rugins (born October 17, 1989 in Tukums ) is a Latvian football player who has been under contract with FK Ventspils in Virslīga since 2015 . Since 2010 he has been part of the Latvian national football team.
Career
society
Ritvars Rugins played in the youth of FK Tukums 2000 . At a young age he switched to the multiple Latvian champion; the FK Ventspils . At the club from the port city of Ventspils , he came to Virslīga for the first time in the 2008 season to four appearances in the professional field. At the end of the season he won the championship with the team. In the 2009 and 2010 seasons he was used more often and was able to enter the top scorer lists with two or three goals. He could not show successes at the state level with the team in the two years, but in the Baltic League of the league for Baltic club teams. In the 2009/10 final against the Lithuanian representative Sūduva Marijampolė which was decided 5-3 on penalties, he played until the 65th minute of the game before Jurijs Žigajevs replaced him. In the 2011 season he won the Latvian Cup in addition to the league title . In the Baltic League 2010/11 Rugins failed with Ventspils in the final due to Skonto Riga . In January 2012 Rugins signed a contract with Illichivets Mariupol from Ukraine.
National team
Rugins played for Latvia in the U-21s before he was called up to the Latvian senior team. He made his debut there against China in November 2010.
