Eero Pekka Sakari Markkanen (born July 3, 1991 in Jyväskylä ) is a Finnish football player .

Career

societies

Eero Markkanen grew up in Finland and lived in France for two years , as his father Pekka Markkanen played basketball at the SLUC Nancy Basket during this time . Eero began his career in the city of his birth with the city's largest football club, JJK Jyväskylä . Even before he was able to play in the professional team, the tall striker was awarded a number of times between 2010 and 2013. With the exception of the HJK Helsinki , with which he was Finnish champion in the 2013 season, the clubs were lower-class clubs from the Kakkonen and Kolmonen . There the young attacker proved to be very accurate, so that he was subsequently able to gain a foothold at his home club. In a total of 22 league games up to his move to Sweden in 2014, he scored eleven goals for JJK.

In December 2013 Markkanen signed a contract with AIK Solna . At the beginning of the season, he was still a substitute and quickly gained a regular place in the team overseen by Andreas Alm . By the summer he scored six goals this season in the Allsvenskan , making him one of the championship's most successful goalscorers to date.

In July, AIK Solna and Real Madrid agreed to change Markkanens. Although the transfer fee was not mentioned, AIK Solna stated that it was one of the most economically significant transactions of the club. With the Spaniards, he signed a contract that ran until 2018 and was on the squad for Real Madrid Castilla .

In August 2015, Markkanen was screened by Real Madrid Castilla coach Zinedine Zidane for allegedly having major weight problems; the Finn is said to have been 18 kilograms overweight. After that, Markkanen was initially without a club.

On September 3, 2015, he signed with Rovaniemi PS and returned to his native Finland.

In November 2015 he signed a three-year contract with the Swedish first division club AIK Solna .

On August 4, 2017, a one-year loan to the second division Dynamo Dresden was announced. After he had made three appearances as a substitute by the end of the year (no goal), he has been absent from training without excuse since the beginning of January 2018. As a result, his loan contract was terminated on January 12, 2018 and Markkanen was loaned to the Danish club Randers FC .

National team

Markkanen took part in the 2014 Baltic Cup with the Finnish national team in 2014 and made his debut in tournaments under national coach Mixu Paatelainen against Lithuania when he was substituted on for Roman Eremenko .
