The Impuls is an electric multiple unit from the Polish manufacturer Newag for regional transport , which has been in production since 2011.
history
The predecessor of the Newag Impuls, the Newag 19WE , was the first in-house design by the manufacturer Newag. However, only four trains were made from 2008 to 2010. The reason for the low demand was that the 19WE was purely a high-floor vehicle and therefore did not allow barrier-free entry. As a consequence, Newag developed the Impuls as a vehicle with a low-floor entry. The first customer was SKM Warsaw . This was followed by orders of Koleje Dolnośląskie , Koleje Śląskie , Koleje Mazowieckie , the S-Bahn to the Tri-City and various provinces , the PKP -owned subsidiary przewozy regionalne have entrusted with the implementation of its regional transport: The Warmia and Mazury , the Holy Cross Province , the province Subcarpathian , West Pomeranian Voivodeship and Opole Voivodeship . Thus the multiple units of the type Impuls can be found in large parts of Poland today. With the order from the Italian railway company Ferrovie del Sud Est , Newag received its first order from abroad in 2015.
Several high-speed tests were carried out on the Grodzisk Mazowiecki – Zawiercie railway line with series vehicles from the Impuls . According to the schedule, this high-speed route allows a speed of 200 km / h. In February 2013 an Impulse 31WE from Koleje Dolnośląskie reached a speed of 211.6 km / h, in August 2015 an Impulse 45WE from Koleje Mazowieckie reached a speed of 226 km / h.

Technology and equipment
The Newag impulse is produced in different versions from two to six pieces. As a rule, the bogies are driven at the ends of the vehicle, while the running bogies are located in the middle of the vehicle. The six-part version is an exception: Here, two bogies are driven in the middle of the train. Here, AC induction motors used which has a brake energy recovery permit. The running bogies are designed as Jakobs bogies . At the ends of the vehicle there are automatic central buffer couplings that enable use in multiple traction. What all configurations have in common is the maximum speed of 160 km / h that can be achieved in regular operation. The driver's cab meets the EN 15227 standard for crash safety . In the passenger compartment there is a multi-purpose compartment , air conditioning , the displays of the passenger information system and, depending on the transport company, a ticket machine and validator . The driver's cab can be equipped with a kettle and refrigerator .
