Career

societies

His father is Tunisian and his mother French. Born in Clamart and raised in Châtenay-Malabry , Hatem Ben Arfa began playing football at the local sports club Voltaire and continued at SM Montrouge , AC Boulogne-Billancourt and FC Versailles before joining the French Football Association Clairefontaine . After a year, he moved to the youth department of Olympique Lyon . A year later he moved up to the second team and a year later he received his first professional contract with a three-year term until 2008. In his first season in the senior division, he played nine point games, where he played on August 6, 2004 (1st matchday) 1-0 win in the away game against OGC Nice made his debut and won his first title at the end of the season with the championship . He also played four Champions League games. In the 2-1 win on December 6, 2005 against Rosenborg Trondheim , he played for the first time over 90 minutes in the "premier class"; his coach Gérard Houllier was able to do without some experienced players as the first place in the group stage was not endangered. The winning goal from his Brazilian club teammate Fred came after great preparatory work from him. In 2006, 2007 and 2008 he defended the championship title with Lyon. He also won the Trophée des Champions with the team in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and the club cup in 2008 . In the summer of 2008 he moved to league rivals Olympique Marseille for 15 million euros , but where he fell out with coach Deschamps and absolutely wanted to leave Marseille. He was there in the 2009/10 season champion , league and Super Cup winner .

On August 28, 2010, he signed a one-year loan deal with English first division promoted Newcastle United . For the Magpies he played four point games before he suffered a broken tibia and fibula on October 3, 2010 in the 2-1 defeat in the away game against Manchester City by a foul by Nigel de Jong . Although he had missed most of the first half of the 2010/11 season due to the serious injury, the first division side was convinced of his skills. In January 2011 he was committed to a transfer fee of 6 million euros and signed a contract valid until June 30, 2015. In September 2014, Ben Arfa moved to league rivals Hull City . The loan deal agreed until the end of the season was ended at the end of the year after only eight point games. He then dissolved his contract with Newcastle United on January 4, 2015 and returned to France, to the first division club OGC Nice . On January 14, 2015, FIFA refused to allow him to play for the current 2014/15 season . The reason for this was that he played a game for the Newcastle United youth team in August, which was rated as a competitive game. According to the FIFA statutes, competitive games for three different clubs are not permitted during one season. After the decision was confirmed by a French court, he left the club for the time being on February 3, but joined him again for the 2015/16 season .

After a personally extremely successful season in Nice , in which he scored 17 goals in 34 league games and a hat-trick in the 3-0 win against Stade Rennes on April 10, 2016 , Ben Arfa moved to Paris Saint-Germain for the 2016/17 season . He received a two-year contract dated June 30, 2018 with the reigning champions.

On September 2, 2018, Ben Arfa signed a two-year contract with Stade Rennes .

During the winter break he then signed with the Spanish first division club Real Valladolid . He made his debut in the Primera División on February 8, 2020 in a home game against Villarreal (1-1).

With the French U-17 national team , Ben Arfa became Junior European Champion in his own country in 2004 . Alongside Jérémy Menez and Samir Nasri, he was the ultimate discovery in the tournament . For this junior selection, the attacking midfielder scored 15 goals in 22 international matches. After he was able to score against the selection of Northern Ireland , Turkey and Portugal , he came in autumn 2005 for the first time in the U-18 national team.

On 13 October 2007 he made his debut in Tórshavn in the test match against the selection of the Faroe Islands , where he in stoppage time the deficit to 6: 0 final score immediately scored his first international goal - after 62 minutes of Franck Ribery substitute had been.

Appointed in May 2010 by national coach Raymond Domenech in the provisional squad for the 2010 World Cup , shortly afterwards, on May 17th, Ben Arfa was no longer considered by Domenech in the final squad.
