Machine art
The term machine art goes back to the beginning of the 20th century and is firmly associated with the Russian constructivists . It comes from a time that was determined by the change in art towards functionalism , which was to shape people's artistic horizons in the future.
The design language was influenced by futurism and its fascination with technology. The beginnings of socialism and the collective economy brought not only increased economic power but also technical innovations, which completed industrialization in Russia and gave people a new worldview. New forms of economy and work emerged.
In art, this development was mainly greeted with euphoria and a new type of representation, the artist was no longer seen only as an artist, but also as an engineer ( Lissitzky ).
