Christopher Alan Nkunku (born November 14, 1997 in Lagny-sur-Marne ) is a French football player of Congolese descent. The midfielder was under contract with the French first division club Paris Saint-Germain from 2010 to 2019 . He has been under contract with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig since summer 2019 . He is also a former French junior international.
Career
society
After starting out at AS Marolles and RCP Fontainebleau, Nkunku was accepted into the Paris Saint-Germain academy at the age of 13 . With the youth team he played 17 games (15 points scorer) in the UEFA Youth League , and in 2016 he made it to the final against Chelsea with the team . From the age of 18 the offensive player was already in the squad of the professional team several times and was able to play for them for the first time in the Champions League group game against Shakhtar Donetsk on December 8, 2015; it was followed by five top division games and at the end of the season the first national championship title with PSG. Between 2016 and 2017, Nkunku was still active for both the U19 and the first team, scoring seven goals and four assists in 20 competitive games across all competitions. In addition to the national cup , he also won the league and super cup with the club . After completing his training, the Frenchman was mainly active as a substitute in various positions under head coach Unai Emery and his successor Thomas Tuchel , and was two more national champions with Paris and four national cup winners.
For the 2019/20 season, Nkunku moved to the German Bundesliga for RB Leipzig , where he signed a contract that was valid until June 2024. Under coach Julian Nagelsmann , he is mainly used in the attacking midfield and on the wings and was able to score four goals himself and 15 more in 33 competitive games (Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League) until the season break ordered due to the COVID-19 pandemic to prepare.
National team
After playing for two different youth teams in France, Nkunku played his first game for the U20 national team in November 2016 . With her he took part in the 2017 World Cup, which was eliminated by Italy . In 2018, the offensive player worked six times for the U21s .
