Daniel "Dani" Olmo Carvajal (born May 7, 1998 in Terrassa ) is a Spanish football player . The offensive midfielder is under contract with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig and is a national team player .

Career

Olmo played for Espanyol Barcelona in his youth and in 2007 moved to the youth academy of city rivals FC Barcelona . As a B-youth , he joined the Croatian first division club Dinamo Zagreb in 2014 to fill the position of Alen Halilović, who had migrated to FC Barcelona, in the attacking midfield. In February 2015, the Spaniard moved up to the first team, but continued to play for the A youth team . He made his men's debut on February 7, 2015 (20th match day) at the age of 16 years and nine months in a 2-1 home win against NK Lokomotiva Zagreb after a substitution for Paulo Machado in the 76th minute. With the A youth team, Olmo played for the first time in the UEFA Youth League on September 16 of the same year when they lost 2-0 at home to Arsenal .

In the 2015/16 season , the midfielder was primarily used in the 2nd HNL at Dinamo Zagreb's second team. For the first team, he came to a league appearance on May 14, 2016 (36th match day) and thus contributed to the double at the end of the season. After playing in 14 league games in the 2016/17 season , the Spaniard developed into a regular player in the following season. Two more national championships followed, as well as a cup victory and winning the Croatian Supercup with Dinamo.

At the end of January 2020, Olmo moved to Germany for Bundesliga club RB Leipzig , with whom he signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2024.

National team

In 2014, Olmo completed three international matches for the U16 team of the Spanish Football Association . After playing for the U17 national team three times in the European Championship qualification in March 2015, he played with her in May 2015 at the U17 European Championship in Bulgaria . There he was used in all five matches of his team, with whom he finished sixth after a defeat in the quarter-finals against the German U17s .

On October 11, 2018, he made his debut in the U21 national team , which defeated the national team of Albania 1-0 in the European Championship qualification .
