The Stade Ange Casanova is located in Ajaccio , Corse-du-Sud department on the French island of Corsica . The football stadium is the home of Gazélec FC Ajaccio ( Gazélec or GFCO for short ) and was inaugurated in 1961 under the name Stade Mezzavia . Today it has a capacity of 6,000 seats. Before 1961 the club played in the Stade Miniconi . On July 16, 1994 it got its current name after the founding president André Ange Casanova . The attendance record was set in the sixteenth finals of the French Football Cup 1989/90 . For the game Gazélec FC Ajaccio against Olympique Marseille (1: 3), 9,682 spectators came to the stadium.
