Houssem Aouar ( Arabic حُسام عوار; Born June 30, 1998 in Lyon ) is a French - Algerian football player . He has been in the squad of the first division team Olympique Lyon since the 2016/17 season and previously played in their youth.

Career

Houssem Aouar began his career with AC Villeurbanne in Villeurbanne , a city neighboring Lyon . In June 2009 he returned to his native city and joined the youth of Olympique Lyon ; In 2014 he won the championship with the B youth team .

On February 16, 2017, he made his debut in the second round of the Europa League in a 4-1 first leg win at AZ Alkmaar with a substitution for Sergi Darder in the 84th minute. Aouar was also substituted on in the second leg seven days later, scoring the sixth goal in his team's 7-1 victory, which was also his first competitive goal.

His contract with Olympique Lyon ends on June 30, 2020.

National team

Aouar has played for the French association's national team since 2014 . He made his debut on November 9, 2017 for the U21 national team against the U21s of Bulgaria with a substitution for Jonathan Bamba in the 64th minute.
