Maxence Caqueret (born February 15, 2000 in Vénissieux ) is a French football player who is under contract with Olympique Lyon . The midfielder has been a French U20 international since September 2019 .

Career

Caqueret began playing football at FC de Corbas and came via the detour of FC Chaponnay Marennes in 2011 to the youth department of Olympique Lyon . On September 17, 2016 (6th matchday), he was used for the first time for the reserve team in the 5-2 home defeat against ASF Andrézieux. In the following two seasons he already played regularly for the B-team in the fourth-class National 2 Championship .

On December 14, 2018, Maxence Caqueret signed his first professional contract with OL . With this contract he was promoted to the first team squad. He made his debut on January 5, 2019 in a 2-0 away win in the Coupe de France against FC Bourges . In this 2018/19 season he made two trophy appearances. On November 30, 2019 (15th matchday), he made his Ligue 1 debut when he was in the starting line-up in the 2-1 away win against Racing Strasbourg and provided an assist. On January 4, 2020, he scored for his club for the first time in the 7-0 away win in the Coupe de France. He played eight league games in the 2019/20 season.

National team

From September 2015 to March 2016, Caqueret played twelve appearances for the French U16 national team .

With the U17 he took part in the U17 European Championship in Croatia in spring 2017 . There he led his team as captain in four of the five games on the pitch. He scored his only two tournament goals in the 7-0 victory in the group game against Faroe Islands . In autumn he was used in all four Bleuets games at the 2017 U17 World Cup in India . There he met once in the 7-1 win against New Caledonia in the group stage. He played a total of 15 games for the U17s, in which he scored seven goals.

From August 2017 to April 2018 Caqueret completed 12 international matches for the U18 , in which he was able to mark a goal. In July 2019, he played with the U19s at the 2019 European U19 Championship in Armenia , where he played all four games. For the U19 he netted once in 16 games.

Caqueret has been a French U20 international since September 2019 .
