The Albury Range is a mountain range in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The Albury Range is located around 6 km west of Fairlie and around 20 km southeast of Lake Tekapo , between the plain of the Opihi River in the east and the Rollesby Valley and the Rollesby Range in the west. The Two Thumb Range borders in the northwest . The 19 km long and up to 7 km wide mountain range has a north-south orientation with a gradual increase in the south to up to 1323 m and then drops more steeply in the last quarter of its length. The southern part of the Albury Range has the greatest extent in west-east direction. The mountain range is surrounded by the Opihi River in the north and the Tengawai River in the south .
The Albury Range can be reached via New Zealand State Highway 8 , which leads around the northern part of the mountain range via Fairlie and turns west from the small settlement of Burkes Pass .
Administratively, the mountain range belongs to the Opuha Ward of the Mackenzie District .
