The Rollesby Range is a mountain range in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The Rollesby Range is located around 17 km west of the village of Fairlie and around 14 km south-southeast of Lake Tekapo , between the plain of the Tekapo River in the west and the Rollesby Valley and the Albury Range in the east. The Two Thumb Range borders in the north and the Dalgety Range in the south . The 11.5 km long and up to 7.5 km wide mountain range has a north-south orientation and rises to a height of 1377 m . East of the Rollesby Range in the Rollesby Valley is the headwaters of the Opihi River and the source of the Grays River on the northern flank of the mountain range .
The Rollesby Range can be reached via the New Zealand State Highway 8 , which , coming from Lake Tekapo , runs between the Two Thumb Range and the Rollesby Range and continues over the small settlement of Burkes Pass to Fairlie .
Administratively, the mountain range belongs to the Mackenzie District .
