Jean Lucas de Souza Oliveira (born June 22, 1998 in Rio de Janeiro ), known as Jean Lucas , is a Brazilian soccer player who plays as a defensive midfielder for the French club Olympique Lyon in Ligue 1 .

Jean Lucas began his career in the youth department of Nova Iguaçu . He joined Bonsucesso at the age of 15 before joining Flamengo in 2015 . In December 2017, Jean Lucas was definitely promoted to the first team by manager Reinaldo Rueda before the start of the 2018 season. The following January 17, he made his first-team debut in a 2-0 away win in the Rio de Janeiro State Championship against Volta Redonda FC and received praise for his performance. Jean Lucas renewed his contract with Flamengo on February 16, 2018 and signed a new contract with a 30 million euro clause until 2021. On April 22, he made his debut in Série A and came as a late substitute for Lucas Paquetá at 2: 0 home win against Athletico Mineiro on the field. On February 9, 2019, Jean Lucas moved to another top club, FC Santos, on loan until the end of the season. Initially signed as a replacement for Alison and Carlos Sánchez , he became a regular starter under coach Jorge Sampaoli .

On June 20, 2019, Flamengo accepted an € 8 million offer from Lyon for Jean Lucas, five days later he officially joined the club and signed a five-year deal. He made his Ligue 1 debut for Lyon on August 9, 2019 in a 3-0 away win against AS Monaco . His first goal in the league he scored a game day later on August 16 in a 6-0 home win against SCO Angers .
