In the Clausura and Apertura of 2009 he played again for Liverpool Montevideo. In the 2009/10 season he completed 13 first division matches for the Montevideans and scored one goal. He then moved to Argentina to Godoy Cruz . There he played 16 games (one goal) in the 2009/10 season and 33 games (four goals) in the Primera División in 2010/11 . In July 2011 he joined the then second division team CA River Plate . With 34 missions and four hits, he contributed to promotion there in the 2011/12 season. In the following first division season 2012/13 he ran 34 times in the league and scored six goals. 2013/14 followed another use (no goal) in the Primera División. In early September 2013 he was loaned to the Mexican club Puebla FC . In 27 first division matches he met there a total of six times in the opposing goal.
In mid-2014 he returned to River Plate in Buenos Aires . At the end of the year he won the Copa Sudamericana 2014 with the team . He contributed to this with nine missions and one goal. He also won with the Argentines at the Recopa Sudamericana 2015 and contributed the 1-0 winning goal of his team in both finals. Then his club triumphed at the Copa Libertadores 2015 . He was set up 14 times during the tournament and scored four times. Since the beginning of his second engagement with the Argentine capital club, he ran 31 times in the Primera División and scored seven goals. He also played six games (three goals) in the 2015 Copa Sudamericana and two games (no goal) in the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup .
In mid-November 2015, the Mexican club CF Monterrey announced , confirmed by the identical statement by Sánchez's advisor Nelson Ferro, that they would sign up for the Torneo Clausura 2016. A three-year contract had been agreed. River Plate initially denied this with reference to the contract, which ran until December 31, 2015, and threatened legal action against the Mexican club due to the fact that the Mexicans failed to contact the Argentine club for violating FIFA regulations before the start of contract negotiations with the player. However, a few days later, Sánchez confirmed the change at the end of 2015. In the course of the conclusion of the contract, his advisor pointed out that the significantly better economic conditions of the new contract enable Sánchez to secure financial security after the end of his career. His convincing performances with the Argentines led to his nomination as South America's Footballer of the Year 2015.
When the Mexicans he came (as of: June 26, 2020) 15 times (seven goals) in the Copa MX , 77 times (twelve goals) in the highest Mexican league and twice (no goals) in the CONCACAF Champions League for use .
