Michael Simões Domingues , known as Mika Domingues or just Mika (born March 8, 1991 in Yverdon-les-Bains , Switzerland ) is a Portuguese football goalkeeper . He plays for Belenenses SAD .

Career

youth

Mika began his football career in the youth division of Sporting Pombal at the age of eleven. After three years, he moved to União Leiria in 2006 . He made his professional debut on February 26, 2010 in the game against Vitória Guimarães ; after fellow goalkeeper Hélder Godinho received a red card , striker Carlão was substituted for Mika. In the rest of the season Mika was mainly used as a substitute goalkeeper. He was used in three other league games, including against the big clubs Benfica Lisbon and Sporting Lisbon .

On July 7, 2011, Mika signed a contract with Benfica Lisbon until 2016 for a transfer fee of 500,000 euros. União Leiria had a 20% share in a resale. After stints at Atlético CP and Boavista Porto , he has been under contract with AFC Sunderland since the beginning of September 2016 . There he is used in the U-23.

National team

Mika was accepted into the Portuguese U-20 national soccer team for the 2011 U-20 World Cup in Colombia . There he helped the national team through to the final without conceding a goal. Mika was finally defeated in the final by the Brazilian Oscar for the first time in the tournament. Portugal lost the game 2-3. FIFA awarded Mika with the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

He made his debut for the Portugal U-21 team on October 6, 2011 in the U-21 European Championship qualifier against Poland .
