André Filipe Bernardes Santos (born March 2, 1989 in Sobreiro Curvo , municipality of A dos Cunhados ) is a Portuguese football player .

Career

In the club

Santos joined the Sporting Lisbon youth team at the age of eleven . After he had signed his first professional contract with the capital city in 2008, he played in the first half of the 2008/09 season on loan for the third division CD Fátima and in the second half for the second division União Leiria . At the end of the season Santos rose with the club in the Primeira Liga , whereupon his loan contract was extended for another year. In the 2009/10 season Santos made his first division debut and did not miss a single league game as a regular. Leiria finished the season in secured midfield. For the 2010/11 season Santos returned to Sporting. He played 42 competitive games, gained his first experience in the European Cup with appearances in the UEFA Europa League and achieved third place in the championship with his team, which entitles him to participate in the international competition again. In the following season Santos came to another 25 competitive games. Before the start of the 2012/13 season , he moved on loan to the Primera División at Deportivo La Coruña .

In the summer of 2014 Santos moved to the Turkish Süper Lig for Balıkesirspor . Only a year later he moved to the French second division club FC Metz , with whom he celebrated promotion to Ligue 1 at the end of the season. He then returned to Portugal and joined FC Arouca . In February 2018 he switched to the Romanian first division club CS Universitatea Craiova on loan .

In the national team

Santos went through the junior national teams of his home country. For the U21 national team he played 15 international matches. On March 29, 2011 he made his debut under national coach Paulo Bento in a friendly against Finland in the senior team .
