Rémy Vercoutre (born June 26, 1980 in Grande-Synthe ) is a former French football goalkeeper .

Career

society

Vercoutre's professional career began in 1998 at Montpellier HSC in Ligue 1 . Before that, he went through the club's youth departments. He was unable to assert himself until the club was relegated. It was only when Montpellier had to compete in Ligue 2 in the 2000/01 season that Vercoutre came to the train and they managed to immediately rise again. He stayed with the club for one more season before signing with Olympique Lyon in the summer of 2002 . There he was, however, in the shadow of Grégory Coupet . For the 2004/05 season he was loaned from Racing Strasbourg . But even there he only managed 5 missions and could not prevail. After Coupets left in the summer of 2008, a competition for the goal of the Les Gones should develop between Vercoutres and the new purchase Hugo Lloris , but Lloris won it. When he left the club in 2012, Vercoutre took over the regular place between the posts for one season, but was demoted to reservists again in the 2013/14 season. In 2014 he signed with first division promoted SM Caen , which after a total of twelve years brought his departure from Lyon. At Caen he immediately became number one in the goalkeeping position.

National team

Vercoutre went through some youth teams in France . Among other things, he took part in the U-21 European Football Championship in Switzerland in 2002 . The French made it to the final, but were beaten 1: 3 after extra time against the Czech Republic .
