Mustafa Güven (born January 1, 1936 in Bursa , † September 23, 2013 in Istanbul ) was a Turkish football player . Due to his many years of work for Fenerbahçe Istanbul , he is associated with this club. On fan and club pages he is seen as one of the most important players in the club's history. Due to his height of 160 cm, he was called Mikro Mustafa when he was a player .

Career

society

Güven learned to play soccer as a street soccer player. During his military service, attention was drawn to his footballing talent and he was integrated into the squad of the Turkish national military team. With this he took part in the football military world championship in 1957. In the encounter against the US military national team, Güven scored six goals in his team's 19-0 victory and attracted attention for the first time. During this tournament, Güven established himself as one of the stars of his team.

After this tournament, the Turkish top club Fenerbahçe Istanbul signed him . At the time of his change, there was no national league in Turkey, but only regional leagues in the larger metropolitan areas, of which İstanbul Profesyonel Ligi (German: Istanbul Professional League) was the most renowned. Fenerbahçe played as an Istanbul team in the Istanbul professional league and was one of the long-established teams in this league. Güven immediately established himself as a regular player after his move, played in 16 of his team's 18 league games and scored five goals. With his club, he finished the season as the champion of the Istanbul professional league.

From the spring of 1959 Güven and Fenerbahçe took part in the newly founded and nationwide Millî Lig (today's Süper Lig). The first season of the Millî Lig was played from February 1959 to June 1959 and ended with a win for Fenerbahçe Istanbul . Güven played almost all of his team's games, was one of the most successful goal scorers on his team and became the first Turkish soccer champion with his team. In the second season the title defense of the championship failed. Instead, the team won the Cemal Gürsel Cup . In the third season , Güven and his team were again Turkish champions. Güven remained the following two seasons with his club without a title win. In the 1963/64 season , Güven lost his regular place, but he and his team became Turkish champions for the third time.

After the last championship with Fenerbahçe, he left the club in the direction of city and league rivals Beşiktaş Istanbul . With this club he won the TSYD Istanbul Cup at the start of the season . During the season he only played sporadically and was mostly on the bench.

In the summer of 1965 he moved to the Austrian club SK Admira Vienna . With this club he became Austrian champion and ÖFB Cup winner at the end of the season and thus achieved the Austrian double . At the end of the season he returned to the Turkish league and was hired by Beykozspor . After a season at Beykozspor, he ended his playing career.

National team

In addition to his numerous missions for the Turkish national military team, which helped him to a career leap, Güven was nominated in 1959 by the then Turkish national coach, the Italian Leandro Remondini , in the squad of the Turkish national team . In the friendly against the Dutch national team , Güven completed his first and only international match. What was striking about this mission was that his jersey with the number 7 on his back was so too big for him that he was forced to stuff the jersey into his sports shorts. As a result, only an oversized 7 could be seen on his back .

Güven died on September 23, 2013 in an Istanbul hospital at the age of 77.
