Recep Adanır (born May 3, 1929 in Ankara , † May 20, 2017 in Antalya ) was a Turkish football player and coach.

Athletic career

Adanır started his career at MKE Ankaragücü in 1947 . In a short time he was appointed to the 1st team and became city champion with Ankaragücü in 1949. As a result, Ankaragücü was automatically qualified for the Türkiye Futbol Şampiyonası . The first opponent was Galatasaray Istanbul . Ankaragücü was down 2-0 in the game, but won 4-3 in the end. Adanır first scored to equalize 2-2 and later scored the 4-3 winning goal shortly before the final whistle.

In 1950 the striker moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul . In his first season with Beşiktaş, he won the Istanbul Ligi and made 13 goals in 14 games. With this performance Adanır would also have become top scorer, but two goals were not officially counted for him. In the last game against Fenerbahçe Istanbul , Nusret Özmengü and İlhan Bartu played without a permit for Fenerbahçe, which meant that the game was rated 3-0 for Beşiktaş and the two goals scored by Adanır could not be counted. The top scorer was Lefter Küçükandonyadis . In nine years for Beşiktaş, Adanır scored 68 goals, won the Istanbul Championship three times and the Federasyon Kupası twice.

In 1959 he moved to Kasımpaşa Istanbul . After a year left the club again and became a player in Galatasaray Istanbul. In his second season for the yellow-reds , Adanır won the Milli Lig championship for the first time in 1962 . After winning the title with Galatasaray, he moved on to Karagümrük SK and ended his career in the summer of 1963.

For Turkey Recep Adanır played from 1951 to 1962. For the 1954 World Cup squad, he was not a member. He came to ten international appearances and scored two goals.

Coaching career

Adanır's coaching career began while he was still playing at Karagümrük SK. There he acted as player-coach in nine games. At Beşiktaş he was hired several times and in 1969 Adanır was in the 3rd division with Nazillispor champion. The former midfielder also worked for Larnaka Gençlerbirliği , Adanaspor , Balıkesirspor and Lüleburgazspor .
