Yüksel Alkan (born November 9, 1935 in Ankara , † April 4, 2000 ) was a Turkish football goalkeeper .
Career
Athletic career
Yüksel Alkan began his career in 1953 at MKE Ankaragücü . After one season, the goalkeeper left Ankaragücü and moved to Galatasaray Istanbul . At Galatasaray, Alkan was the second goalkeeper behind Turgay Şeren . With the yellow-reds , Alkan won the Istanbul City Championship in 1955, 1956 and 1958.
Turgay Şeren was seriously injured on November 2, 1958 in the international match between Turkey against Romania, so Yüksel Alkan came in the following weeks to more missions than in the previous seasons. In 1960 Alkan switched to Eyüpspor and a year later he returned to Ankaragücü. Yüksel Alkan guarded the gate for Ankaragücü for three years. Before the start of the 1964/65 season, he went to Altınordu in Izmir .
With Altınordu Alkan descended, the promotion succeeded in the following season. Alkan stayed despite the promotion in the 2nd division and became goalkeeper of Antalyaspor . Yüksel Alkan ended his career with Giresunspor after the 1969/70 season .
Coaching career
During the 1972/73 season Yüksel Alkan was head coach of Kayserispor . With Kayserispor he was second division champions of the 1972/73 season. For the 1973/74 season Sabri Kiraz was introduced as the new head coach, Alkan became his assistant coach.
