Due to the similarity of his playing style with that of Cesare Maldini , he was called Maldini Ercan during his playing days .

society

Aktuna began professional football in the late 1950s in the youth of the Turkish first division club İstanbulspor . In 1959 he was accepted into the professional squad and trained as a regular player over two seasons. In 1964 he made his final breakthrough. In his team he became a regular player and after playing three times for the Turkish U-21s, he also became a national player.

So it wasn't long before he received transfer offers from the major Istanbul clubs. In the summer of 1965, his move to the first division side Fenerbahçe Istanbul was announced. Here he quickly established himself as a regular player and won the Turkish football championship with the team in 1967/68 and 1969/70 . From the 1971/72 season he lost his undisputed position in the team and was often on the bench. Especially under coach Valdir Pereira , he no longer played a role in the team line-up.

After the team had crowned the 1973/74 season with the Turkish football championship, Aktuna announced the end of his playing career.
