The Tun Mustapha Tower or Menara Tun Mustapha is a skyscraper located about five kilometers outside of downtown Kota Kinabalu in the Malaysian state of Sabah . The building opened in 1977 and was the second tallest building in Borneo at the time . It is a 30-story office building 122 meters high. It appears cylindrical at first from a distance, but is actually a 72-sided polygon clad with 2,160 reflective glass panels. The building was designed for wind speeds of up to 272 km / h.

The building was initially constructed as the Sabah Foundation Building ( Bangunan Yayasan Sabah ). After the death of Tun Mustapha, the first Yang di-Pertua Negeri and third Prime Minister of Sabah , the building was renamed in his honor.

The skyscraper was originally equipped with a revolving restaurant on the 18th floor that rotated once an hour and offered a view over the port of Likas . However, the location was given up and the building was then used for pure office use. The outbuildings of the Tun Mustapha Tower house an auditorium, two theater stages, an exhibition hall, a sports hall, a kindergarten and a research library.

In 1997, the French facade climber Alain Robert climbed the building with the approval of the Sabah government as part of a charity event.
