Josef de Souza Dias (born February 11, 1989 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian soccer player who has been under contract with al-Ahli since August 2018 .

Career

Souza began his professional football career at CR Vasco da Gama , where he played in the first team for two years from 2008. After the descent in 2008, the ascent was achieved in the following year. He then moved to Portugal for FC Porto . The defensive midfielder made his SuperLiga debut on August 14, 2010 against Naval 1º de Maio when he came on for João Moutinho in the 85th minute . The game in Figueira da Foz was won 1-0.

He also made his debut at European club level. In the play-off match in qualifying for the Europa League against KRC Genk on August 19, 2010, he was substituted on in the 60th minute and scored the interim 2-0 in the 3-0 win in Genk in the 82nd . On January 1, 2015, Souza moved to São Paulo FC on a free transfer .

From the 2015/2016 season, Josef de Souza Dias was hired by Fenerbahçe Istanbul . He stayed here until August 2018, when Josef moved to Saudi Arabia to al-Ahli .

National team

Souza took part in the 2009 Junior World Cup in Egypt . He was used in five of six games of the Brazilian selection , where he received four yellow cards. He played through in the final against Ghana and missed a penalty in the decisive penalty shoot-out.
