Alpaslan Eratlı (born November 9, 1948 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football player . Through his many years of work for Fenerbahçe Istanbul , he is very strongly associated with this club. On fan and club pages he is seen as one of the most important players in club history. After the career of Fenerbahçe legend Cemil Turan in the summer of 1980, he took over the captain's armband and wore it until the end of his playing career in the summer of 1983. He was also the captain of the Turkish national team several times. Eratlıs traditional position was that of Libero , where he has also filled other defensive positions if necessary. Due to his technically elegant, very calm style of play and, of course, due to his position, he was compared to Franz Beckenbauer , the then legendary player in the libero position.

Career

society

Eratlı began playing football on the street and played for the first time as an amateur footballer in the İstanbul Amatör Futbol Ligi at Cerrahpaşa SK . In 1968 he moved to the first division club İstanbulspor and quickly established himself as a regular player. Here he already played with later teammates like Cemil Turan and made it into the Turkish national team in 1970 . At the end of the 1971/72 season , his club missed relegation in the Süper Lig and was relegated to the TFF 1st Lig . Eratlı remained loyal to the club and played for İstanbulspor one season in the second highest Turkish league.

After the direct resurgence was not achieved at İstanbulspor, Eratlı moved to the traditional Turkish club Fenerbahçe Istanbul . Here he played for ten seasons and during that time he became a gaming legend. Due to an injury, he had to pause almost continuously in 1977 and 1978.

At the end of the 1982/83 season , Eratlı decided, after Fenerbahçe won the Turkish football championship with a double after a five-year lean period , to end his career at its peak. So he ended his active playing career after a farewell game.

National team

Eratlı was nominated for the first time in qualifying for the European Championship in 1972 for the Turkish selection . In the encounter on October 17, 1970 against the German national team , he made his international debut. Subsequently he was one of the regular players of the national team until his serious injury in 1977. Shortly before the end of his career, he was nominated one last time for the national team in the summer of 1983 and said goodbye in the EM84 qualifier against the Albanian national team .

He played a total of 26 times for Turkey and wore the captain's armband in the last few games. He also played four times for the Turkish U-21 team in 1970 .
