Richard Blackwell (2008)

Richard Blackwell (born August 29, 1922 in New York , † October 19, 2008 in Los Angeles ; actually Richard Sylvan Selzer ) was an American style critic who also worked as a fashion designer .

Life

Blackwell has published the so-called Blackwell List on January 11th every year since 1960 , in which the celebrities who, in his opinion, are worst-dressed are published. He also published a list of the best dressed stars (Fabulous Fashion Independents) .

His longtime partner was the hairdresser Robert Spencer. Blackwell wrote two books, Mr. Blackwell: 30 Years of Fashion Fiascos and an autobiography, From Rags to Bitches .

Blackwell was considered a pioneer in the field of presenting fashion on television . He appeared as a fashion designer in the American television series Port Charles . as well as in various television series, talk shows and on his own show Mr. Blackwell Presents .

On October 19, 2008, Blackwell died at the age of 86 from complications as a result of an intestinal infection.
