Alison Arngrim
Alison Margaret Arngrim (born January 18, 1962 in New York City ) is an American actress , stand-up comedian and activist . She was best known for her role as Nellie Oleson in the TV series Our Little Farm .
Acting
Arngrim had her first television appearance in 1969 in the series Room 222 , but it was five years before she became known to a larger audience in 105 episodes of the US television series Our Little Farm in the role of Nellie Oleson. Arngrim had previously auditioned for the roles of Laura and Mary Ingalls, but was turned down.
Arngrim sat on the jury of the television show Match Game / Hollywood Squares Hour in the 1970s. In 1981 she appeared on the series Fantasy Island and Love Boat as a guest. After she was still in the film I Married Wyatt Earp in 1983 , she took a long break from acting, during which she worked as a photo model . In 2000, Arngrim starred in the film For the Love of May . In 2002 she appeared in The Last Place on Earth and in 2007 in the film Deal, Le .
Stand-up comedy and theater
With her program Confessions of a Prairie Bitch , Arngrim goes on tour regularly and can often be seen in various clubs in Los Angeles . As a stage actress, Arngrim appeared on stage in Sirena Queen of the Tango at the Celebration Theater. She also appeared in Butterflies are Free , In One Bed and Out the Other , The Wool Gatherers and Hidden in the Laughter .
Charity
After Steve Tracy , who played her husband Percival in the later episodes of Our Little Farm , died of AIDS in 1986 , Arngrim joined the AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) as a volunteer. Since 1990 she has worked as a producer in the comedy department of the APLA Annual Summer Party. From 1989 to 1993 she also worked for Tuesday's Child as a program director and is still a member of the board of directors .
As a child, Arngrim himself became a victim of incest . Today she is committed to the fight against child abuse and is a member of the Committee of the Grassroots Advisory Board of the National Association to Protect Children.
Private life
Arngrim's father, Thor Arngrim, was a manager in Hollywood . Her mother, Norma MacMillan, is also an actress and voice actress. She was Casper's voice in Casper, the friendly spirit . Her older brother Stefan also turned to acting and starred in the science fiction series Planet of the Giants .
In 1989 Arngrim married Donald Mark Spencer, from whom they divorced in 1993. In the same year she married the musician and AIDS activist Robert Paul Schoonover, who brought a daughter into the marriage. The family lives in Los Angeles.
Awards
In 2005 Arngrim was voted 96th in the “100 Greatest Kid Stars”. In 2006, Arngrim won the Character Most in Need of a Time-out award for her role as Nellie Oleson in Our Little Farm with Danielle Spencer. For her work in the fight against AIDS, Arngrim received the “Friend in Deed” award from the APLA, the “Celebration of Life” award from the South Bay Friends of Aid for AIDS and the “George Moscone Award” from Christopher Street West of Los Angeles.
