Aurora Cecilia Santiago Cisneros (born October 19, 1994 in Nezahualcóyotl ) is a Mexican national soccer player on the position of goalkeeper .
Career
society
Cecilia Santiago began her football career at Cachorros Neza , a club in her hometown with an affiliated football school. Later the goalkeeper was under contract with Laguna de Tultitlán , among others . In the 2013 season she played in the newly founded National Women's Soccer League , the highest American professional league in women's football, for the Boston Breakers . Santiago made her NWSL debut on April 27, 2013 against the Western New York Flash . For the following season in 2014 she was assigned to league rivals FC Kansas City , but paused for a year from league football. In the summer of 2015 she moved to the Champions League participant Apollon Limassol and from there to the Icelandic first division club Þór / KA for the 2016 season .
National team
Santiago guarded the goal of the Mexican U-20 women's national team at the 2010 women's U-20 World Cup in Germany and was also nominated for the 2011 World Cup squad of the Mexican women's national football team . She was used in the first game against England , making her the youngest goalkeeper ever to appear at a World Cup at 16 years and 251 days. In 2012 she took part in the U-20 Women's World Cup in Japan, where she was eliminated with Mexico 1-0 aet against Nigeria in the quarter-finals. Two years later, at the U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada, it was clear that Mexico would be eliminated after the group stage. She is also back in the Mexican squad for the 2015 World Cup in Canada.
