Þór / KA is a syndicate of the Icelandic clubs Þór Akureyri and KA Akureyri , which only play together in women's football and play their home games in Þórsvöllur .

history

In October 1998, the two clubs from the northern Icelandic city of Akureyri announced a collaboration in the field of women's football. In the 1999 season, the clubs competed together for the first time under the name "Þór / KA" in the second-class 1st deild kvenna and at the end of the season celebrated promotion to the Landssímadeild kvenna . Between 2001 and 2005 the syndicate was temporarily expanded to include KS Siglufjarðar and played under the name "Þór / KA / KS" during this time. In 2004, he was relegated to the second class, and was immediately promoted again in the following year.

Since then, the syndicate has established itself in the Pepsideild kvenna and was able to win the Icelandic championship in 2012 and 2017 and thus qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League . In addition, they became Icelandic runner-up in the 2010 and 2018 seasons. In 2013 Þór / KA also reached the national cup final for the only time so far , in which they lost Breiðablik Kópavogur 1: 2. In November 2018 it was decided to continue the syndicate until at least 2023.
