Agnes M. Sigurðardóttir (born October 19, 1954 in Ísafjörður ) has been Bishop of the Icelandic State Church since mid-2012 .

Agnes Sigurðardóttir is the daughter of pastor Sigurður Kristjánsson and Margrét Hagalínsdóttir. She was ordained a pastor in 1981 and initially worked in youth work. As a parish pastor , she worked in Hvanneyri (1986 to 1994) and Bolungarvík . From 1996 she also worked as a regional dean in the West Fjords.

She was elected bishop in the second ballot in 2012 with 64.3% of the vote and was introduced to the office of bishop on June 24, 2012 in Hallgrímskirkja . She is the first woman to serve as bishop in the Icelandic State Church.

Agnes Sigurðardóttir is divorced and has three children.
