Guido of Nevers

Guido (French: Guy ; † October 19, 1175 ) was a count of Nevers , Auxerre and Tonnerre from the House of Monceaux . He was a son of Count Wilhelm III. and Ida von Sponheim.

After his older brother Wilhelm IV died childless in 1168, Guido succeeded him. He was in conflict with his neighbor, Duke Hugo III. of Burgundy , who claimed supremacy over Nevers-Auxerre-Tonnerre. In the decisive battle, Guido was defeated and captured by his enemy on April 30, 1174 near Beaune . As a condition for his release he had to take the feudal oath against the Duke of Burgundy. Guido died shortly afterwards in 1175.

Guido was married to Mathilde von Burgund, daughter of Raimund von Burgund, Count von Grignon, as their second husband since about 1168. Through her father, she was a granddaughter of Duke Hugo II of Burgundy and thus belonged to the Capetian family ( House of Burgundy ). The two children were:
