William III. (Nevers)

William III. (French Guillaume ) (* around 1110; † November 21, 1161 ) was a Count of Nevers , Auxerre and Tonnerre from the House of Monceaux . He was a son of Count Wilhelm II of Nevers and his wife Adelheid.

In 1137 Wilhelm supported Count Gottfried V von Anjou in the conquest of Normandy . Together with his brother Rainald , he accompanied King Ludwig VII on the second crusade , where the brother died in the fighting in Asia Minor.

Wilhelm died in 1161 and was buried in the Abbey of Saint-Germain in Auxerre . He was married to Ida von Sponheim († May 25, 1178), a daughter of Duke Engelbert of Carinthia . Your children were:
