Frédéric Plessis

Frédéric Plessis (* 1851 ; † 1942 ) was a French writer and classical philologist ( Latin ).

Plessis studied classical philology at the Sorbonne in Paris and was able to successfully complete this course despite participating in the war . Immediately afterwards, Plessis got a job as a lecturer at this university and held this position throughout his life.

Plessis was hostile to colleagues as a partisan of Charles Maurras and his action française . When Jean Rivain and Eugène Marsan founded the magazine “Revue critique des idées et des livres” in 1908 , Plessis was one of the first employees. Plessis also made a name for himself by editing the works of Cicero , Horace and Virgil .

Today Plessis is part of the Parnassian area .
