Career

Arndt rowed at the Wiesbaden-Biebrich rowing company in 1888 . In 1955 Horst Arndt and Karl-Heinrich von Groddeck won the German championship in two-man together with helmsman Achim Wernet. In 1956 Arndt and Groddeck were able to defend the title with the helmsman Rainer Borkowsky . The three Wiesbadeners also won the European championship in Bled in 1956 in front of the boats from Switzerland and Austria. At the Olympic Games in 1956 , the three took second place behind the Americans Arthur Ayrault and Conn Findlay with helmsman Armin Seiffert . Also in 1957, the three rowers competed in the German championship with a Wiesbaden eight and finished third.

After Groddeck moved to Ratzeburg, Arndt and Borkowsky switched to larger boats. With the Wiesbaden four-man with helmsman , they took third place at the German rowing championship in 1958. They also finished third again with the Wiesbaden eighth. 1959 occupied Arndt with a racing community from Ulm, Wiesbaden and Neuss again third in the German Championship in the eighth.
