Henrymárcio Bittencourt or Márcio Bittencourt for short (born October 19, 1964 in São José dos Campos ) is a former Brazilian football player and current coach . As an active he was used in the position of midfielder .
Player career
society
Bittencourt began his professional career in 1985 with the traditional Brazilian club Corinthians São Paulo . In 1988 he was able to win the state championship of São Paulo with the team . More important, however, was winning the Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol , the all-Brazilian championship , two years later . After another season, in which Bittencourt and his team reached the final of the São Paulo State Championship again, he left Corinthians and joined SC Internacional . There he played three more seasons without being an integral part of the team. During this time, however, he was part of the squad of the club that won the Rio Grande do Sul state championship in 1992 and 1994 and the 1992 Copa do Brasil . In the competition for the Copa do Brasil, the SCI was able to win this for the first time. In the finals, the team prevailed against Fluminense Rio de Janeiro . In 1995, at the age of 29, Bittencourt ended his active professional career.
National team
1991 Bittencourt was first called into the squad of the Brazilian national team. He made his debut on May 28, 1991 against the selection of Bulgaria . Soon after, he was appointed to the squad for the 1991 Copa America by then national coach Paulo Roberto Falcão . There he came to three missions. The team came in second behind Argentina . Bittencourt made three appearances in the tournament. On June 13, 1991 he made his competitive debut against Ecuador . In the 3-2 defeat against Argentina on June 17, which was decisive for the outcome of the competition, the offensive player completed his last international match in the dress of the Seleção .
Coaching career
After his active career, Bittencourt devoted himself to training. In May 2005 he became head coach at his former club Corinthians São Paulo . He succeeded the hapless Argentine Daniel Passarella , to whom he was previously available as an assistant coach. Bittencourt led the team back to winning ways and lost only four out of twenty games. Despite this success, he had to vacate his post for his compatriot Antônio Lopes in September of the same year . But he soon found a new club in Brasiliense FC . This commitment only lasted two months. Previously, he was relegated to the second division with Brasiliense. In 2006 the football coach was hired by Fortaleza EC . In the following years Bittencourt changed employers regularly. On June 5, 2010 he was introduced as the new coach of Ipatinga FC . He was responsible for this between August and October 2008.
