Anton Valens

Anton Valens (* 1964 ) is a Dutch painter and writer .

Life

Valens studied at the "Rietveld Academie", the "Rijksacademie van beeldende kunsten" ( Academy of Fine Arts ), and worked in home care (Dutch: Thuiszorg ). In an interview he spoke about his activities as a writer and painter: “ I am first a writer, then a painter, although I have been doing the latter for much longer. (...) If you write a book, you can sell thousands of copies, win prizes and become famous. The existence of a painter is very different and often receives much less attention ”. (“Ik ben eerst schrijver, dan schilder, hoewel ik het laatste al veel long doe is heel different, en komt vaak veel less onder de aandacht ”). His works belong to the realistic and ironic humus of literature wrote a critic. In 2004 he became known as an author in the Netherlands with the book "Meester in de hygiëne" ( Master of Hygiene ).
Valens had completed various training courses, from 1982 to 1983 at the "Indiana University of Pennsylvania" ( USA ), from 1983 to 1984 at the Academie Minerva , ( Groningen , NL ), from 1984 to 1988 at the "G. Rietveld Academie ”( Amsterdam , NL) and from 1990 to 1992 at the“ Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten ”.
