Marcell Josephus Itelius Friderikus Driver (born April 30, 1852 in Löningen , † October 19, 1912 in Oldenburg ) was a German lawyer and politician of the German Center Party .

Life and work

Driver comes from a respected family of lawyers from the Oldenburger Münsterland , which has been proven since the 16th century . He was the older son of the Friesoyther magistrate Franz Adam Philipp Driver (1813–1903) and his wife Sophia Bernhardine nee. Cordes (1825-1896). His younger brother Franz Driver was also active as a politician and long-time minister in various departments within various Oldenburg state governments. The trigger for the controversy was Willich's refusal to appoint Driver's brother Franz, who was then a senior administrative judge, as a Catholic as the regional president of the Oldenburg principality of Lübeck . After Willich's resignation, Driver was reinstated in the civil service in November 1909 and entrusted with the business of the board of directors of the statistical office.
