The Biographical Handbook for the History of the State of Oldenburg (BHGLO) is a reference work with biographies of an essential part of "the regional elite " of the State of Oldenburg . It comprises 779 short biographies of important or well-remembered personalities of Oldenburg history from the early Middle Ages in the area of ​​the former Grand Duchy of Oldenburg , the historical Duchy of Oldenburg and today's part of the country as well as the principalities of Lübeck and Birkenfeld and the city of Wilhelmshaven. The individual articles, to which a portrait has been added if possible, are followed by primary and secondary literature information.

The work was published in 1992 on behalf of the Oldenburg landscape by Hans Friedl and was published by the Oldenburger Verlag Isensee with 825 partly illustrated pages under ISBN 3-89442-135-5 .
