The Office of Oldenburg was an administrative district of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg and the later Free State of Oldenburg . The seat of the office was in the city of Oldenburg . The function of the Oldenburg offices largely corresponded to the function of the districts in the rest of the German Empire .

history

The Oldenburg Office was founded as part of the Oldenburg administrative reform of 1814 and initially comprised the city of Oldenburg , the rural community of Oldenburg as well as Holle , Osternburg and Wardenburg . In 1855 the city of Oldenburg left office and became vacant, while the rural community of Oldenburg remained in office. In 1858 the municipality of Hatten was added to the office from the Wildeshausen office. In 1868 the two communities Rastede and Wiefelstede were assigned to the Oldenburg office from the dissolved Rastede office.

In 1897 the rural municipality of Oldenburg was divided into the municipalities of Ohmstede and Eversten . On April 1, 1922, Osternburg was incorporated into the city of Oldenburg, the eastern part of Eversten followed on November 1, 1924. At the same time, the new municipality of Ofen was formed from the western part of Eversten .

During the administrative reform of 1933, the old Oldenburg office was dissolved. Hatten, Holle and Wardenburg fell to the new office of Oldenburg , Rastede and Wiefelstede to the new office of Ammerland . Most of Ohmstede was incorporated into the city of Oldenburg, the villages of Wahnbek , Ipwege and Ipwegermoor into the municipality of Rastede. The municipality of Ofen was dissolved and divided between the municipalities of Bad Zwischenahn , Wiefelstede and Edewecht . In 1939 the new office of Oldenburg became the district of Oldenburg .
