The office of Cloppenburg was an administrative district of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg and the later Free State of Oldenburg . The seat of the office was in Cloppenburg . The function of the Oldenburg offices largely corresponded to the function of the districts in the rest of the German Empire .
history
The Cloppenburg office was formed as part of the Oldenburg administrative reform of 1814 and initially included the communities of Cloppenburg , Cappeln , Emstek and Molbergen . In 1855, the municipality of Krapendorf was formed in the area around Cloppenburg . In 1872 Garrel also became an independent municipality. In 1879 the communities of Essen , Lastrup , Lindern and Löningen were added from the dissolved Löningen office.
During the administrative reform of 1933, the old office of Cloppenburg was enlarged to include the area of the dissolved office of Friesoythe . In 1939, the new, enlarged Cloppenburg office became the Cloppenburg district .
