The office of Cloppenburg was an administrative district of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg and the later Free State of Oldenburg . The seat of the office was in Cloppenburg . The function of the Oldenburg offices largely corresponded to the function of the districts in the rest of the German Empire .

history

The Cloppenburg office was formed as part of the Oldenburg administrative reform of 1814 and initially included the communities of Cloppenburg , Cappeln , Emstek and Molbergen . In 1855, the municipality of Krapendorf was formed in the area around Cloppenburg . In 1872 Garrel also became an independent municipality. In 1879 the communities of Essen , Lastrup , Lindern and Löningen were added from the dissolved Löningen office.

During the administrative reform of 1933, the old office of Cloppenburg was enlarged to include the area of ​​the dissolved office of Friesoythe . In 1939, the new, enlarged Cloppenburg office became the Cloppenburg district .
